Acoustic Club: Tinderbox

Award winning contemporary folk duo Tinderbox originally formed in 1997 and feature Dublin born singer-songwriter Monique Houraghan and UK guitarist/songwriter Dan Tucker.

With five studio albums and one live album under their belts, Tinderbox have amassed an impressive catalogue of self-penned music. Inspired by artists such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, and Counting Crows, the songs explore a myriad of poignant themes.

BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson has described Tinderbox’s music as “Gorgeous”. R2 Magazine’s Dai Jeffries branded the music “Outstanding…refreshingly natural” and Folkwords columnist Tim Carroll commended the “…highly accomplished musicianship; with a deliciously pure voice and a lush embroidery of strings”.

Tinderbox’s latest album All Grown Up has received stunning reviews across the UK with Maverick Magazine lauding it “…a strong candidate for album of the year” and FolkWords hailing it “…a five-star album. No question”.

In addition to countless headline shows across Europe Tinderbox have opened for high profile acts including Joan Armatrading, 10cc, John Renbourn, Chris Difford and Hazel O’Connor amongst many others.

With a long-established reputation amongst the wider folk and acoustic scene you should, if you haven’t already, experience Tinderbox live.

Tinderbox will be supported by Dom Prag, a young singer songwriter from Southampton whose debut album, Young Man on a Ferry came out in December 2018 and straight away began garnering praise, awarded Album of the Month by the Richard Harris Folk and Blues Show on Blues and Roots Radio.
