Knowing pattern types, their symbols and details is a necessary skill to be able to adjust or modify your commercial pattern to your own measurements, before you sew a stitch. This workshop will help you save time and fabric by creating your pattern fitting done first. You will exchange knowledge and develop your sewing skills by learning specialist techniques in pattern adaptation.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to identify different sewing patterns, suitable for cutting individual sewing projects, understand symbols and their application in a cutting layout towards appropriate construction techniques (joining and seam neatening), and understand different adaptations according to your measurements, individual designs and level of complexity.
All levels of ability are welcome, beginners or experienced sewists who want to be introduced, refresh or improve their knowledge with commercial pattern adaptation.
What you will need: Your commercial pattern, sewing kit, including paper scissors, pins, tape measure, a roll of appropriate paper (tracing, baking parchment, dressmaking paper) to make adaptations, masking tape, glue stick or Sellotape, an assortment of pencils, pens, colour pencils, permanent fine liners in different colours and a notepad.
