Suitable for everyone who can cast on, cast off, knit and purl. Some experience of knitting in the round is helpful but not essential.
Nothing beats the cosy comfort of hand knitted socks. It is also a fabulously portable project ensuring that no time is ever wasted again sitting in a waiting room or on public transport.
During this three hour workshop Nicky will teach you the anatomy of a sock, how to turn a heel and how to graft a toe. You will be working in the round using a long circular needle and the magic loop method. You will be given a basic sock pattern to start working from in class, which you can take away and finish at your leisure.
Attendees will need to bring: two 50g balls of a DK yarn. Also another ball in a contrast yarn if a contrast heel and toe is desired (optional). A 3 1/4mm, long cable (80cm or longer) circular needle. Pen/pencil, scissors, tapestry needle. Also stitch markers if you have them.
'An Introduction to...' workshops provide a way to try out new art forms you may not have thought about trying before or have always wanted to give a go! Keep an eye out for more of our introductory workshops in the upcoming season'.
