This class is a chance for children to create their own masterpieces by exploring pastels, paints, fabric, clay, collage and more.

Different media will be used, e.g. pastels, paints, pencils, clay, charcoal, inks, card, wool, string and wire.

The class looks at different artists with the aim to learn about and have a go at their techniques different methods will also be tried, such as sculpturing paper, bending wire, drawing animals, folding paper, mixing paint colours, and painting curvy lines and moulding clay.

The class is lots of fun and is a great way for kids to learn, improve, explore and create art!

Tutor: Elizabeth Romaine

Smart Club has been run by Elizabeth for 17 years. Once a primary school class teacher for several years.

Born in West London, she moved to Fareham for a teaching job in the early 1990s. She enjoys walking by the sea, collecting materials that can be used to create artworks, using a lot of recycled materials and loves card making, water colours, a bit of clay and large outdoor sculptures! She has a large metal sculpture in her garden that moves in the wind. Enjoys the theatre and visiting contemporary art galleries.

Her favourite artists are L.S Lowry, Wassily Kandinsky & Barbara Hepworth. She has 2 grown-up children (just!) who are very artistic. Her daughter completed a foundation art diploma followed by a degree in Landscape Architecture & Architecture and her son draws excellent cartoon & animal characters. Three past members of Smart club have returned over the years as volunteer helpers and one went onto study Graphic design at University. Elizabeth is passionate about developing artistic skills through fun activities which can be transferred also to life skills. One unfulfilled dream is to paint her garage door with an abstract design! Join our Saturday Morning Art Club!
