Did you know it was National Play Day earlier in the week on 7 August? The annual UK celebration set up to promote the benefits of play to children and young adults with a theme this year of Play Builds Children.

At Ashcroft Arts Centre we have plenty of arts activities throughout the year for children to get involved with that all help boost creativity, build friendships, resilience, health, well-being and communities - all benefits that the National Play Day aim to highlight!

If you didn't get the chance to attend National Play Day with the kids, why not give them something fun to look forward to this summer holiday and bring them along to our annual PLAY Festival or drop them off at our Create and Play Activities in the last two weeks of August!

PLAY Festival

PLAY Festival takes place on Saturday 17 August from 10am - 4pm for children 4-11 and families. It's a jam packed day with bookable workshops and free activities. For £5 per child and £2 per adult you can choose to take part in our family musical theatre or dance workshops, or get crafty with paper plate weaving wool art. Kids can also taster our Saturday morning drama club or tappy toes class for free, write a poem on our poetree, enjoy interactive storytelling and so much more!

Create and Play activities

Create and Play activities are designed to be just as fun as the PLAY Festival! There a handful of exciting sessions to choose from for kids aged 6-11. Simply drop them off dressed for mess on Tuesday 20 and 27 August at 9.30am - 12.30pm for art and crafts or 1pm - 4pm for dance, and if those days don't suit the kids can join the following week on Wednesday 21 and 28 August from 9.30am - 12.30pm for art and crafts or 1pm - 4pm for drama.

Activities are £12 per session BUT you get £4 off the second session in the same day if the kids want to stay and play all day!

More details on both PLAY Festival and Create and Play activities can be found in our children and family activities area - we're putting the fun into Fareham so let this kids play this summer holiday!
